The Paddan tour
If you want to get to know the city in a pleasant way with funny and professional guidance. The tour takes 50 min and takes you through the center and some parts of the harbor by open boat. My recommendation is to start here as you will get an idea what may be interesting for you to visit next.

Liseberg amusement park
You might already have heard of it and the park can be visited while you can choose and pay for some attractions or you buy a day-pass and enjoy all the rides. Summertime can be busy. You can check the webpage to see what dates are usually the busiest if you don’t want to risk too much queuing.

Slottsskogen
When you want to stroll and enjoy some nature in the middle of town, visit Slottsskogen the main park in Göteborg. You’ll also be able to see mooses, Gotland ponies, Gute sheep and other Nordic animals in the park zoo. And of course there are some cafés and restaurants.

Universeum
A rainy day? Don’t let that stop you. Visit the wonderful indoor nature and science museum. It is a worthwhile visit for children, youth and grownups. A definite recommendation and spend at least half a day.

Another rainy day? Why not take a journey through an industrial epoch ranging from its foundation 1927 to today. If you like cars and trucks this is a must.

The Gothenburg archipelago
The archipelago has multiple islands to visit by ferry and worth a visit, maybe combined with some (sun)bathing at a beach. Maybe enjoy some fresh seafood. A favourite is the southern archipelago, but that is of course a master of taste.

Bohus Fortress
Take a walk in “medieval” times and the history on the historical borders between Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Early in the 13th century the foundations of the fortress were laid and have since been a part of the turmoil of Scandinavian politics and wars. Take the opportunity to also visit the old town of Kungälv with cobbled streets and colorful wooden houses.

Marstrand
North from Göteborg you find the island Marstrand, worth a visit for the old town and the fortress. There are nicely staked out paths to hike around the island and when the weather allows a swim in the sea. To get there you take the road E6 north from Göteborg towards Kungälv. From there you follow the signs to Marstrand.

Alingsås
The city of Alingsås east from Göteborg is worth a visit. They call it themselves as the “Capital of Fika”. Fika is Swedish way to have coffee, tea and pastries with family, friends, or colleagues. Fika is the cultural and social glue for Swedish society, without it the efficient Swedish machinery would stop. Alingsås has a cozy town centre worth visiting and you’ll surely find a nice café to get yourself introduced into the culture of “Swedish fika”. Alingsås - Mighty potholes from the last ice age
Why not take a trip back to the ending of the last ice age and see what impact the melting ice has left on the land. The mighty potholes show the magnificent power water can have on rocks when it runs for a very long time. The area is nice to walk around and has steep passages.
Borås
The city of Borås, east from the cottage along the R40 highway is an old textile centre and still innovates the textile industry today. There is a zoo worth visiting and the town has several art exhibitions in the streets and in museums. Find more information in the link.

Walking-Hiking
If you like walking and hiking, there are plenty of well staked out walking trails around Göteborg. The large ones being Bohusleden, Vildmarksleden and Götaleden. You can find more detailed information in the link.

- DO NEAR THE COTTAGE
Sammels Lantgård
10 min drive from the cottage you’ll find a rustic and rural café, farmer’s shop and catering. Here you can enjoy typical Swedish fika with a cup of coffee, cake, sweet pie or an extensive. We can recommend the apple pie, it’s delicious. Check the location and opening hours here: Sammels Lantgård

Walks and hikes around the cottage
There are some walking opportunities around the cottage. In the right season you may pick blue- or lingonberries or the mushrooms. Or just simply stroll around and enjoy the close by nature. We have added some suggestions here you with route descriptions you can open in Google maps. Walks from half an hour, one hour, or two hours approximately. The terrain varies (forest paths, gravel and asphalt roads) so make sure you have a proper pair of shoes and expect some parts to be a bit wet when it has rained.
Landehof cross country ski tracks - Hiking
In Landvetter there are cross-country skiing tracks that of course offer splendid skiing wintertime and summertime great hiking tracks. The tracks are well marked and perfect for hiking, you can pick your distance. The terrain is varying and has some steep hills, just so you know. Fine dining – Hällsnäs Gourmet restaurant
If you are looking for a fine dining occasion in the area, there is Hallsnäs. Hällsnäs’ restaurant offers gourmet food experiences. And then there is the Mackmyra warehouse with Sweden’s own whiskey. Mackmyra’s whisky warehouse is part of the creation of a culinary centre for people interested in food and drink.

Gunnebo House & Gardens
Why not book a guided tour in Gunnebo House, a neoclassical castle and gardens from the 18th century? Or discover it by yourself. The house was built as a country house for a successful merchant and his family. The gardens are as impressive as varied. Approximately 30 min. drive from the cottage.
